Itinerary
The moment you land at Kuala Namu International Airport in Medan, your tour guide will be there to welcome you. Get ready for a four-hour drive to Parapat, passing through Pematang Siantar, the second-largest city in North Sumatra, and catching glimpses of endless rubber and palm oil plantations along the way. We’ll make a pit stop at Patent Shop where you can grab local treats like Teng Teng and Ting Ting. Lunch is served at a local restaurant before we arrive in Parapat, a peaceful little town on the shore of stunning Lake Toba. Don’t miss a quick photo stop at the "I LOVE LAKE TOBA" landmark! After that, you’ll check in at your hotel and have time to settle in before dinner is served at the hotel. (Meals: Lunch, Dinner)
After breakfast, we’ll hop on a ferry across the sparkling waters of Lake Toba to Samosir Island. This volcanic island sits right in the middle of the lake and is actually the fifth largest of its kind in the world. It’s the heart of Batak Toba culture, and you’ll get a peek into their history with a visit to Tomok Village, home to the ancient tomb of King Sidabutar. If you’re traveling with a group of at least 14 people, we’ll also check out Ambarita Village, famous for its stone chairs and the old execution site of King Siallagan. Back at Parapat, enjoy lunch before we continue to Berastagi—a ride that takes about four hours. Along the way, we’ll stop at Simarjarunjung so you can try their famous ginger tea and fried bananas (these are at your own expense), all while taking in the highland views. We’ll make another stop at the amazing Sipiso-piso Waterfall, which drops 110 meters and offers a breathtaking view over Lake Toba from the north. When we reach Berastagi, you’ll get to wander through the Central Fruit Market and maybe even sample some local tropical fruits, fresh vegetables, and flowers. Check in at your hotel and wind down with dinner. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After breakfast, we’ll kick off the day with a visit to Taman Lumbini, home to a replica of the famous Shwedagon Pagoda. Then it’s time to head back to Medan, which usually takes about two and a half hours. Once we arrive, we’ll stop by Graha Annai Velangkanni Church, and then have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Afterward, you’ll see how local passion fruit is turned into tasty homemade snacks at Rumah Markisa Noerlen. The tour continues with visits to Maimoon Palace, the Grand Mosque, a Batik shop, and Medan Mall. In the afternoon, check in to your Medan hotel to relax a bit before heading out for dinner at a local restaurant. Then it’s time for a good night’s rest. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
