Itinerary
You’ll touch down at Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, where your guide will be waiting to greet you. First up, a little city sightseeing: explore Istana Maimun, the Grand Mosque, wander around the old Kesawan area, and check out a lively Chinese temple. After lunch, we’ll hit the road to Bukit Lawang—a gateway to the famous orangutan rehabilitation center at the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park. The 86 km drive takes about 3 to 4 hours, winding past scenic stretches of rubber and palm oil plantations. Once we arrive, you’ll check in, settle down, and just soak in the laid-back vibe of Bukit Lawang.
Start your day with breakfast at your lodge, then get ready for some real adventure. You’ll trek out to spot orangutans in the wild at the Bahorok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, set deep in Gunung Leuser National Park—a vast, untamed rainforest covering more than 800,000 hectares. Afterward, hop into a giant inner tube and float down the Bahorok River for a bit of fun on the water. Lunch is back at the ecolodge. The afternoon’s highlight: spelunking in Bat Cave before you wind down with some free time. Unwind, relax, and then enjoy dinner at the lodge.
Enjoy a relaxed morning and a leisurely breakfast at your accommodation. Then, we’ll make our way back to Medan. Once we’re back in the city, you’ll tuck into a tasty lunch at a local spot. If there’s time, you can squeeze in some last-minute shopping at Medan Fair Plaza or Sun Plaza before we take you to the airport for your flight home. That’s a wrap!
